Ein gro\u00dfer Teil der biologischen Vielfalt der Erde ist noch unbekannt \u2013 unz\u00e4hlige Arten und ihre \u00f6kologischen Rollen bleiben sowohl in erforschten als auch in unerforschten Lebensr\u00e4umen verborgen. Wir bei RARElab widmen uns der Identifizierung unentdeckter Arten,<\/strong>der Lokalisierung vielversprechender Fundorte und der Schlie\u00dfung kritischer Wissensl\u00fccken \u00fcber das Leben auf unserem Planeten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In einem aktuellen Projekt zu S\u00fc\u00dfwasserfischen arbeiten wir mit Experten zusammen, um umfassende Daten \u00fcber Arten auszuwerten, sowie Modelle zu nutzen, die uns helfen die Anzahl der noch unentdeckten Arten zu prognostizieren. Unser Ziel ist es, geografische und taxonomische Entdeckungsl\u00fccken zu identifizieren. Durch die Analyse biologischer und \u00f6kologischer Faktoren heben wir Regionen mit dem h\u00f6chsten Potenzial f\u00fcr Neuentdeckungen hervor. Dieses Vorgehen baut auf fr\u00fcheren Forschungen zu terrestrischen Wirbeltieren auf, bei denen Modelle nahelegen, dass noch viele Amphibien- und Reptilienarten in den Neotropen und indo-malaiischen W\u00e4ldern \u2013 insbesondere in Brasilien, Indonesien, Madagaskar und Kolumbien<\/strong>\u2013 noch unentdeckt sind (Moura & Jetz 2021). In Zusammenarbeit mit diesen und anderen Forschern wenden wir nun \u00e4hnliche Methoden auf S\u00fc\u00dfwasser\u00f6kosysteme an, um unser Verst\u00e4ndnis der aquatischen Biodiversit\u00e4t zu erweitern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsere Interessen gehen jedoch \u00fcber die Modellierung von Neuentdeckungen hinaus. Ein zentrales Ziel von RARElab ist es, wichtige Regionen f\u00fcr zuk\u00fcnftige Expeditionen zu identifizieren,<\/strong>in denen Forscher aktiv nach neuen und verlorenen Arten suchen k\u00f6nnen. Durch die Integration von Daten zur Artverbreitung, der Bewertung von Habitaten und der Rate von bisherigen Neuentdeckungen schaffen wir eine wissenschaftliche Grundlage f\u00fcr gezielte Explorationen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indem wir herausfinden, wo noch unentdeckte Arten auf ihre Entdeckung warten, helfen wir Natursch\u00fctzern und Wissenschaftlern, ihre Bem\u00fchungen gezielt zu steuern. So tragen wir dazu bei, verlorene, seltene, wenig erforschte und noch nicht beschriebene Arten<\/strong>nicht nur zu dokumentieren, sondern auch langfristig zu sch\u00fctzen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
